Why do pro athletes have to act like complete jack asses?
They are getting paid to do something I would murder for and yet they act like spoiled little children. Look at LeBron and the fiasco which was his "Decision". Look at the fact that only 2 of all 1st round draft picks in the NFL have signed contracts.
But sadly its just not the pros who do this.
In Hockey Night In Texas we look at how some guys take a recreational sport too seriously. They act as if they are mini LeBrons. They work to game the system, to try and get an advantage. For what?
Its not like they get paid or that there will be any glory attached to their victory. It will not be documented for prosperity nor will children want to pretend that they are a 40 yr who works at Dell who happened to score a goal in C league.
Maybe its ego, maybe its pride or maybe its testosterone and primal extincts coming to the forefront.
I don't think that this is just in this league. I know all over the country there are guys who tend to "try" a little to hard in whatever sport they play.
I'll be honest - I too get worked up a little every now and then but I can say that I have worked real hard to tone it down. I just wish some of the other guys would do the same.

Knapper, I agree with your post. I myself was driven to 'retire' from the league for a while, while certain element left or moved up to the more 'refined' leagues. I am not in the business of getting seriously hurt for playing a sport where my only goals are to get fit and enjoy the camaraderie only found in a team. Perhaps more posts like yours can eventually lead to a review of how things can be changed at the local rink level to make the game enjoyable for all--without the constant threat of loose cannons ruining it for the rest of us.
